Dr. Oliver Vodeb is sociologist of communication and design, theorist, educator and creative/conceptual director. In 2007 he received a Phd in sociology from the Faculty for Social sciences, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. In the last years, his theoretical research and practical projects focus mainly on socially responsible communication, design, critical (media) literacy, tactical education, (new media) networking environments, media activism, advertising. He is also very much interested in photography. He frequently lectures on several Universities and conferences around the world and teaches "Theories and practices of media and communication" at the Design department at the Academy of Fine Arts, University of Ljubljana from 2003.

In 2006 Oliver co-founded Poper Studio for Conceptual, creative and tactical interactions, where he practices communication as conceptual and creative director. The studio practices socially engaged communication and has established new standards of socially responsible communication. Poper is one of the handful communication companies in the world with a critical approach towards public sphere of communication, while experimenting with sustainable business models and is the most respected company in Slovenia in the field of socially responsible communication.

He is author of the book Socially responsive communication (published by the Faculty for Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana 2008) and co-edited and co-curated the book Demonstrating Relevance: Response - Ability, Theory, practice and imagination of Socially Responsive communication (published by Memefest and Faculty for Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana 2010). Both books are key texts for anyone interested in Socially responsive communication.

Oliver founded Memefest, international festival of radical communication in 2002 and is facilitator, curator, editor and main organizer of the project since its beginning.

He enjoys very much going to concerts and listening to music. Concerts he liked a lot: The Dirty Three, The Black Crowes, Faith no More, The Mars Volta, Black Rebel Motorcycle club, The Butthole Surfers. He hopes he will someday see Bonnie Prince Billy and Sufjan Stevens.
